Background Verification Rules in Japan

Please see below some useful information related to background verifications in Japan

·         It is customary to perform BGV for employees.

·         It typically only includes past employment and education and social media (optional). CRS and drug tests are prohibited.

·         There's high sensitivity to data protection and non-discrimination:

·         Need to have employee consent to BGV

·         Need to carefully process and store information

·         Can not collect sensitive data like ethnicity, family origin, religion, financial/banking data etc.

·         For the simple BGV (+global sanction list) our background verification team can perform the checks.
