Canada - illness, injury, disability or death benefits

Disability or death benefits under Service Canada in case the employee is under EI (Employment Insurance).

Disability

The EI regular benefits allow employees (that had contributed to EI) to apply for illness and injury benefits, whether it happened inside or outside of work. Coverage can only be determined by Service Canada after an application is submitted.

However, employers also choose to provide LTD, STD and AD&D to their employees in the event they want to provide extra coverage when an employee go through such incidents.

-        LTD - Long Term Disability

STD - Short Term Disability

​AD&D - Accidental Death and Dismemberment.
