In Switzerland, the Family Allowance is statutory and needs to be funded by the Employer.

Eligibility: Employees with children

Conditions for receiving the benefit: To qualify for the allowance, the child must be under 16 or 25 in full-time education, however, limits may vary by canton.

Benefit description: The monthly child allowance varies by canton from CHF 200 to CHF 525. The birth and adoption allowances also vary by canton from 0 to CHF 3000.

Other comments: Depending on the canton, employers, independent persons, and employees are obliged to pay for the family allowance funds. The contribution for employers varies by canton, from 1.12% to 2.23% of salary.
