What is UAN- UAN is a unique 12-digit number assigned to employees in India by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). EPF is a mandatory contribution scheme where both the employer and employee make regular monthly contributions. Every employee who contributes to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) in India must have a UAN. The funds accumulated in the EPF account are meant to provide financial security and stability for employees after retirement. Generation Of UAN: UAN will be generated by XML. Once the UAN is generated, you will be notified to activate the UAN. To activate one, pls follow these stepsStep 1: Visit the EPFO online portal. Step 2: On the homepage, find: 'For employees' under the section ' our services. Step 3: . Click on it. Step 4: This leads to a page that offers different services offered by the EPFO. Step 5: Click on the section: Member UAN/Online services. Step 6: After this, click on the link: Activate UAN. Step 7: Enter the necessary details like your mobile number, UAN, PF member ID, and email ID. Step 8: Click on: Get authorisation PIN. You would receive a PIN on your registered mobile number. Step 9: Enter the PIN and click on Activate UAN. Note: a. To log in to the UAN portal, you need to use your UAN and newly generated password. After logging in, you can also change your password according to your choice. Moreover, if you forget your password, you can also click on ‘Forgot Password’ and set up a new one for your EPF account. b. Step 1: Go to the EPFO’s Unified Member Portal at https://unifiedportalmem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/. Step 2: On the homepage, locate the “Important Links” section and click on the “Know Your UAN” option. Step 3: Enter your mobile number and the captcha code. Step 4: Enter the OTP that has been sent to your registered mobile number. Step 5: On the next screen, provide the required details such as your name, date of birth, Aadhaar number or PAN number, and captcha.
