Private Medical insurance Ireland taxation
Those who privately
purchase individual health insurance policies will automatically get tax relief
on their premiums through a system called Tax Relief at Source or TRS. This
system reduces the premium owed by the amount of tax relief due upfront, so eligible
consumers need not independently claim the tax relief.
You should have already
got the tax credits and you can confirm with Laya that the premium quoted and
paid were already discounted since this was an individual owned policy.
But since XML
eventually is paying this to you – our payments need to be via payroll; we
incorrectly declared these as Benefit and now corrected this as an allowance –
either was these will be taxed as XML is paying this.
