Reduction of working time (RTT) - France
|
In France, the legal working hours are set at 35 hours per week. There are two common approaches: 1.Hourly Count: Employees work specific hours daily, totalling 35 hours per week. 2. Flat-Rate System: For roles where tracking exact hours is challenging, employees have a "flat rate" of workdays instead of counting hours weekly.
RTT Days: In roles where a flat rate applies, RTT days are granted as compensation for working beyond 35 hours, even if hours aren’t specifically tracked. This provides additional leave days that aren’t necessarily added to annual vacation but serve to balance out the extra time worked.
Employer can either grant a flat rate, effectively raising the normal weekly working hours to 39 hours a week of a fixed basis, in which case he will get 10 days of RTT for the year.
Or this can be done proportionately to the hours worked. In the website example above, 2 hours of RTT will be accrued for a work week of 37 hours. 3 hours will be accrued for a 38 hour work week, etc.
