Czech Republic - termination

  • Notice in writing + electronic signing allowed 
  • 2 months notice effective from the day notice is given - it used to be effective from the 1st day of the following month but was changed in January
  • One month salary of corresponding severance - less than a year of service
  • PILON not allowed
  • Garden Leave is allowed. 

Additionally, Dismissal at Will is not allowed in Czech Republic, Dismissal by notice  has to be for one of the following reasons: 

  • The closure or relocation of the employer's undertaking, or part of it.
  • The employee having become redundant.
  • The employee having been medically certified as having lost, in the long term, the ability to perform their current work owing to their state of health.
  • The employee not meeting the requirements for proper performance of the work (dismissal on the grounds of poor performance).
  • The employee having seriously breached work discipline or having repeatedly breached it in a less serious manner (despite being warned about a potential dismissal by a written warning letter).
  • The employee having grossly breached the rules on sickness leave, for example, by not staying at home.
