Child benefit - Germany

The child benefit is a monthly payment of Euro 250 per child given to all German & EU citizens residing in Germany regardless of their income.

Foreign nationals living in Germany, with a valid residence permit, may also claim this - they will need to demonstrate they are not receiving any similar benefits in their home country or anywhere else.

This is provided by the Family Benefits Office at the Federal Employment Agency. The employer does not pay this.

The child age limit is usually 18 years.

Taxes on this are paid via the tax code adjustment based on your income thresholds.
